Introduction to the Crucible

EQ: Determine a central idea of The Crucible and analyze its development over the course of the text.

Also, read the aim and procedure in order to understand the two videos we will watch as a class. 

We are going to watch 2 different video clips.
One is from 1961 and one is from 2009.

How do the behaviors seen in this video relate to fear? to the history we just learned about? 
How might this relate to the Crucible?

In a reflective paragraph, describe your reaction to the experiment.
Consider the role of authority and how you might respond in a similar situation. 

2.  The Crucible Introduction

With the time remaining, read through the Introduction by Christopher Bigsby.
Consider Arthur Miller's purpose in writing the play.
Finish reading through pages VII-XXV for homework. 

3.   Introduction Discussion

Create one higher order thinking question based on ideas stated in the introduction.
Write it on one side of an index card, leaving the other side blank for answers.
You will use these cards for a quiz, quiz, trade.
